Complete Kitchen Remodel
Well, we blew it on this one - we forgot to take the before picture. However, we do have some shots from early in the project of this complete kitchen remodel.
The kitchen had been painted a dozen (or so) times over - the plan was to remove and replace these cabinets with new ones - but during the job, it was discovered that beautiful maple cabinets that were still quite sound were hiding under all that paint. |

So we stripped the cabinets first with heat and scrappers, then a stripping solution and took them down to the beautiful maple. The doors were sent out to be dip-stripped. |
Not only did we discover the maple, we discovered a real surprise under the dishwasher. |

So we removed the rotten sub floor and replaced it… |
…and installed new vinyl flooring, a new stove, and dishwasher. |

The pantry was small and difficult to access through bi-fold doors. As shown in later photos, we widened the pantry and added a slab door that was stained to match the maple cabinets. |
The original walls were in sorry shape - they had been faux painted and there was a terrible uneven texture. A dated tile back-splash was removed and the walls were scrapped, sealed, primed and turned red - Red Red Wine, to be exact. |

New counters were constructed to enlarge the eat-in area. |
And the project wrapped up nicely. The nearly finished kitchen remodel - all that was left was new lighting and some trim work. |

Comment from the homeowner:
"In our previous home, we were afraid to do anything other than white. In our new home, we wanted something bold. The old faux painted walls were stripped and painted red. Its so deep it looks like leather. We found some bad stuff, like a rotten floor, but in the end, I am just thrilled with my new kitchen. I am proud to have people over now!"
