Q. What is Craftsman On Call?
A. Craftsman On Call is a full-service home repair and maintenance company specializing in all of the around-the-house handyman tasks.

Q. Who is sent to my house to do the work?
A. A uniformed handyman will arrive at your home carrying his own tools in a clearly marked vehicle. We do not use subcontractors. We carefully screen each craftsman, and they are insured and all possess a high level of skill and experience. Our craftsmen arrive on time and ready to work.

Q. How do I schedule a service appointment?
A. Give us a call. Our friendly customer service staff will help you schedule an appointment, and you can also choose to be put on a first-available list to be called if there is an opening before your scheduled appointment.

Q. How do you charge?
A. At Craftsman On Call , we charge by the hour, plus materials. This way our customers are charged only for the time that we actually work, and just the materials for their particular project.

Q. Can I get an estimate for my job?
A. Many of the smaller jobs that Craftsman On Call specializes in often do not lend themselves to estimates. However, if you give us a call we can usually give you an idea of how long a job similar to yours would take. Also, please review our prices.

Q. How do I pay?
A. You can either give a check to the craftsman at the end of the job, or you can pay by credit card.

Q. Why have I not heard of you before?
A. Lots of people ask this! We don't advertise much - most of our business comes through referrals from satisfied customers, and we like it that way. It means we can spend more time focusing on delivering great service, and less time on deciding where we should advertise.

Q. How much does your service cost?
A. At Craftsman On Call, we charge by the hour, plus materials. This way our customers are charged only for the time that we actually work, and just the materials for their particular project. Review our prices.

Q. Does this include materials?
A. No - materials are charged at cost - you pay what we pay for materials - we'll provide you with our receipts and invoices.

Q. Do your craftsmen come with all the right tools?
A. Yes! All our craftsmen carry a full range of tools to tackle a huge number of different jobs. They also carry a wide selection of small parts (screws, nails, wall plugs, plumbing and electrical parts, etc.).

Q. Do you offer free estimates?
A. Generally, we can give you a good idea over the telephone of how long a job is likely to take. You can then book someone in, and when they arrive they will confirm or revise the estimate based on what they find at the job. If it is clearly going to take a lot longer than expected, and you decide not to go ahead, we won't charge you anything. If you are happy to go ahead then our craftsman will do the job then and there. For larger jobs, like remodling bathroom, we would usually make a separate visit first to give you an estimate at no cost to you.

Q. Are you insured?
A. Yes, we carry liability insurance.

Q. How quickly can you come out?
A. We are not really an emergency service - most of the work we do is booked in a couple of days in advance. We can often squeeze jobs in on the same day as they are booked, though, so it is worth calling to check availability.

Q. Do you offer a 24hr service?
A. No - usual hours are 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday. We can do jobs in the evening or on Saturdays for a 50% premium. We do not work on Sundays.

Q. Will I have to wait all day for your handyman to show up?
A. No - we give a specific time in which we aim to arrive. We are almost always right on time, but sometimes (particularly towards the end of the day) we might run a little behind. But we will always call you well in advance to let you know our revised estimated arrival time.

Q. How big a job can you take on?
A. The jobs we do generally range from 30 minutes to a day. We sometimes do larger jobs lasting several days.

Q. Do you do office work?
A. Yes, certainly. Many companies use us to take care of their everyday maintenance requirements. There is no formal account-opening procedure, just contact Craftsman On Call to set up an appointment.
